A picture valuation service based on the experience I can draw from my nearly 20 years at Christie’s and the fourteen subsequent ones, advising museums, private collectors and corporations. Detailed insurance and probate valuations are also provided.
An analysis of sales at auction with recommendations to clients as to what to buy and subsequent costs of export / conservation / collection and delivery.
Advice on where to sell individual pieces or collections of a specific / varied nature
The conservation and housing of works of art
Advice on building and creating collections for private clients and corporations
Researching pictures; identifying ports, harbours and battle scenes, and offering a specialist search ‘sleuthing’ for specific works of art
Lectures on subjects such as The History of Maritime Ship Portraiture and The Conservation of Paintings and the Restoration of Frames and Polychrome Sculpture and The History of Maritime Ship Portraiture. Other themes include what to look for at auction, fakes and forgeries and the history of canvas and pigment. Audiences have included Christie’s Education, The Sotheby’s Institute, the Art Fund and the National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies [NADFAS].
